Soups are Hot in January

When choosing a healthy soup, look for one with no artificial colors, flavors or flavor enhancers, such as disodium guanylate or disodium inosinate. Choose a variety that has 2g or less of saturated fat, less than 480mg of sodium and ideally 3 or more grams of fiber.

Many other choices in the soup aisle are delicious, though somewhat higher in sodium. If sodium isn't a huge issue for you, partner the soups with a potassium-rich food such as nuts, dark greens and citrus to ease the sodium load to the body. Look for tasty choices among these popular brands:
