Gary BougieLast month we were shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our friend and business partner in Pizzeria Pezzo, Gary Bougie. At just 35, he was wise beyond his years – an extremely hard-working professional with an always-smiling face and positive outlook on everything. He clearly loved his work and loved his family most of all. At this difficult time, our hearts go out to his dear and devoted wife, Keri, and the couple's three young children as well as his parents, sister and brother.

Born in Minnesota to high school sweethearts from St. Paul, Gary moved to the pizza-loving Chicago area with his family when he was five years old. There he came to know and love the history and tradition of Chicago-style pizza and eventually opened the Zagat-rated SLYCE, which garnered numerous awards, including being named one of the "Top 8 Pizzas in the Nation" and "Best Coal Oven Pizza in Chicagoland." In 2013, Gary and his family transferred back to Minnesota to open Pezzo in White Bear Lake. It became an instant hot spot in the community and has been packed since day one.

Pizzeria Pezzo is located at the intersection of Highway 61 and 4th St. in White Bear Lake. Pezzo is open Tuesday-Saturday 4-10 p.m., Sunday 4-9.
