Classic Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

Ingredients: 
  • 16 cups French bread cubes (1")
  • 1 1/3 cups raisins
  • 8 cups milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • - caramel ice cream topping
Instructions: 

In buttered 13x9" baking pan, combine bread cubes and raisins. In small saucepan, scald milk; stir in sugar and butter. Let stand until cool (about 15 min.). Stir eggs, vanilla and spices into milk mixture. Pour over bread cubes. Bake in a preheated 350° oven until knife inserted in center comes out clean (55-65 min.). Serve with warm caramel ice cream topping.
