Sushi-Style Beef Burgers

Ingredients

½ cup teriyaki sauce
¼ cup Kowalski's Pure Honey
1 ⅓ lb. Kowalski's Certified Humane USDA Prime 86% Lean Ground Beef
2 green onions, thinly sliced
3 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
1 clove garlic, finely minced
2 tsp. chile-garlic paste
½ tsp. kosher salt
4 Kowalski's Sweet Egg Buns (from the Bakery Department), lightly toasted
- garnishes, to taste: Wasabi Mayo (recipe below), Sriracha mayo, pickled ginger (from the Global Foods Aisle), grated carrot, sliced avocado, sesame seeds and french fried onions

Directions
  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat; clean grill grates.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together teriyaki and honey; set glaze aside.
  3. Using clean hands, mix next 6 ingredients (through salt) in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined; form 4 patties.
  4. Grill burgers over direct heat, covered, until done (4-5 min. per side), turning twice and brushing each side with glaze in the last 2 min. of cooking.
  5. Remove from heat; tent loosely with foil and let stand for 3-5 min.
  6. Serve burgers on buns with desired garnishes.

 

WASABI MAYO: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1 tsp. water and 1 tsp. wasabi powder (from the Global Foods Aisle). Mix in ½ cup mayonnaise and 1 tsp. freshly grated lemon or lime zest. Store in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 3 days.
