Eating Gluten-Free

Why Eat Gluten Free?

Gluten is the name for certain proteins found in some grains such as: wheat, rye, barley, triticale, spelt and kamut. For people with celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity, eating foods with gluten can be harmful. It can cause digestive problems or actual damage to the lining of the small intestine, where most nutrients in food are absorbed. If damaged, the small intestine cannot fully absorb nutrients, making it potentially difficult for a person with celiac disease to get enough nutrition for good health. Eating a gluten-free diet can make all the difference in the world. Living a gluten-free lifestyle helps people who are sensitive to gluten enjoy an energetic, strong and healthy life.
