Baba's

Rana Kamal and Khalid Ansari are Palestinian-American siblings who recreate their father's family recipes with a modern twist. Their baba, Jamal, humbly brought the authentic flavor of his home city, Jerusalem, to America in the late 1970s. His creamy, bold hummus was created in the kitchen of his restaurant, Mediterranean Cruise Café, in Burnsville, Minnesota, in 1979, when Middle Eastern food was practically nonexistent in the area. It quickly became the restaurant's most-requested dish and remains so four decades later!

Rana and Khalid always knew their father's hummus was special. The love and fierce following their patrons have for their family's super-creamy homemade hummus influenced them to package and brand it so they could share it with a wider community. In 2018, the siblings launched Baba's and today offer a variety of hummus flavors, g'noosh, pita bread and more.

Baba's is not only a food brand – it's a taste of the Palestinian-America experience through food and culture. Baba's Creamy Dreamy Traditional Hummus embodies the smooth, authentic hummus from Jerusalem. Their spin-off flavors, like Zesty Za'atar, Olove, Garlicky Onion and Spicylicious Sriracha, are the representation of the company's playful, rebellious and "melting-pot" American side.

"We are equally proud to be Palestinian and American," say Rana and Khalid. "It's the best of both worlds, and we want people to taste that through our food."
