Mama Stoen's began its journey in August 2009. This was when Christine and her youngest daughter, Gracie, were diagnosed with celiac disease. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder that causes damage to the lining in the intestinal wall, which prevents the proper absorption of important nutrients the body needs.
After their diagnosis, Christine was concerned about the shift in lifestyle and food choices for herself and her family. After trying gluten-free products on the market and not finding what she once was used to eating, Christine became determined to make a gluten-free product that would be as close to today's food taste and texture as possible. For six years she worked to create a gluten-free product that tastes like today's gluten-containing foods but is free of gluten, corn or nuts.
The Stoen family – Jami, Christine, Cameron, Gage and Gracie – have enjoyed sharing their products with individuals in need of gluten-free products. They have taken a gloomy situation and found great pleasure in helping others.
"Mama Stoen's has been in business for a year and a half," says Jami, "and Kowalski's has been a part of our business from the beginning. Kowalski's believes in local vendors, and they gave us the chance because they believed in what we were doing. It has turned into a great partnership."
Mama Stoen's can be found at more than 200 locations across the U.S. We are excited to see where they go in the future!
