Kayla Yang-Best grew up in a refugee camp with her family in northern Thailand. To provide for the family, her mother sold homemade chicken phở from a two-level street cart on the edge of the camp every morning. Kayla’s mom’s cooking has instilled in her a love for quality Asian food since she was a child and the desire to share that love across cultures while respecting and preserving the healthy tradition her ancestors created. She founded Spice Kitchen in the Twin Cities with that desire in mind and the mission to preserve food making that maintains taste, health, culture and community.
