Chicken Pizza Burgers

Ingredients
1 lb. Kowalski's Fresh Natural Ground Chicken
¼ cup freshly grated Kowalski's Parmesan Cheese
¼ cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
2 green onions, thinly sliced
2 tsp. dried basil
1 clove garlic, finely minced
¼ tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
½ tsp. kosher salt
¼ tsp. freshly ground Kowalski's Black Peppercorns
- cooking spray, as needed
4 Kowalski's Take & Bake Ciabatta Rolls (from the Bakery Department), split horizontally and lightly toasted
4 oz. Kowalski's Fresh Mozzarella Cheese (from the Specialty Cheese Department), thinly sliced
½ cup Kowalski's Pizza Sauce (from the Grocery Aisle), warmed in the microwave
- fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Directions
  1. Preheat grill to medium-high; clean grill grates.
  2. Using slightly damp hands, mix first 10 ingredients (through black pepper) in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined; form 4 patties.
  3. Spray burgers very lightly on both sides with cooking spray.
  4. Grill burgers over direct heat, covered, until done (4-5 min. on each side), turning twice and topping evenly with cheese in the last 2 min. of cooking (after flipping burgers for the last time).
  5. Remove from heat; tent loosely with foil and let stand for 3-5 min.
  6. Serve burgers on warm rolls topped with sauce and garnished with fresh basil.

 

Tasty Tip:

  • Shaping the burgers with slightly damp hands will help keep the mixture from sticking to your fingers.
