Pro Tips for Grilling

Cake or Quick Bread

  • Types: Pound cake, angel food cake, and 1" thick slices of dense butter cake or quick bread hold up best to heat.
  • Handling: Use a serrated knife to get clean slices without crumbling.
  • Preparation: Brush slices on both sides with melted butter and a touch of honey or sugar to encourage caramelization and help prevent sticking.
  • Heat: Cook over medium-high heat on a clean, well-oiled grill.
  • Timing: 1-3 min. per side is usually enough. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • Serving: Pair with grilled fruit, ice cream or whipped cream – or all three!

Tasty Tip:

You can grill our Signature Browned Butter Krispies or Mini Morning Buns too! Thread 3-4 bite-size treats onto a water-soaked wooden skewer.

Pro Tips for Grilling

Cheese

  • Types: Juusto and Halloumi have high melting points that produce a crispy, golden exterior and a soft, squeaky interior.
  • Handling: Cut thick ¾" slices to allow enough time for crust development. You can also try 1" cubes on skewers.
  • Preparation: Brush all sides with a neutral oil to prevent sticking.
  • Heat: Grill on clean, well-oiled grates over medium-high heat.
  • Timing: 2-4 min. per side is a good guideline. Flip the cheese as soon as it releases easily from the grates.
  • Serving: Serve straight from the grill while the center is warm and gooey. Top with tomato relish, fruit jam, chimichurri or pickles (just to name a few!).
