Nordic Waffles

Nordic Waffles

Born and raised in Norway, waffles were a staple food in Stine Aasland’s childhood. At age 21, she dreamed of transforming waffles into a hand-held experience. She began selling waffles out of her convenience store, quickly gaining popularity and becoming the largest waffle company in Norway. After being given the title of “Waffle Queen,” Stine left her company and moved to the United States in hopes of redefining how Americans experience waffles.

Nordic Waffles launched in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2016 with a new concept: a warm, handheld waffle sandwich. Stine's heart-shaped, Norwegian-style waffles are thinner, softer and made using a traditional recipe for a taste you won't forget. Within two years, her freshly made waffle sandwiches could be found across the Upper Midwest. Adding a stand at the 2018 Minnesota State Fair and selling over 42,000 waffle sandwiches in 12 days (that's 3,500 sandwiches a day!) started a “Wafflelution” among the fairgoers. From there, Nordic Waffles was able to expand into ten states and opened a retail location at Potluck Food Hall. When the COVID-19 pandemic closed the shop’s doors, it shifted gears and launched a frozen food line. With Nordic Waffles now sold in more than 900 stores across the Midwest, Stine and her Minnesota-based team know that now more than ever, we need this Wafflelution. Because they believe you deserve a little Nordic love in every bite.
