Thelma's Treats

Thelma's Treats

Thelma's began in 2012 when Dereck Lewis and his mom, Lana, started selling handmade ice cream sandwiches at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market. They used Great-Grandma Thelma's snickerdoodle recipe, squished local Anderson Erickson ice cream in between, and customers flocked to their little pushcart.

In 2016, Thelma's sweet treats made their way to the Twin Cities retail market, the Saint Paul Saints' stadium and special events like the Grand Ole Days Festival. They have expanded their flavors from Chocolate Chip and Snickerdoodle to unique flavors like Cayenne Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter with Banana.

Thelma's still makes each ice cream sandwiches by hand in their production kitchen in Des Moines, and they are spreading more joy than ever!

Find them in the Frozen Foods Department of your nearest Kowalski's location.
