Leftover Holiday Ham Paninis
Makes 2
These warm, savory paninis feature sliced ham, crisp apple slices, sharp white Cheddar and a flavorful spread of apple butter and stone-ground mustard. Grilled to golden perfection, they're equal parts sweet, tangy and smoky.
Ingredients
4 slices
Kowalski's Signature Artisan Multigrain Bread
2 tbsp.
Kowalski's Apple Butter
8 oz.
thinly sliced leftover ham
4 thin slices
white Cheddar
2 tbsp.
Kowalski's Stone Ground Mustard
- baby arugula, to taste
Directions
- Preheat a nonstick skillet, griddle or panini press to medium heat.
- Spread one side of 2 bread slices with apple butter; top evenly with ham, cheese and apple.
- Spread mustard on one side of remaining bread slices; place bread mustard-side down over sandwich fillings.
- Lightly brush both sides of sandwiches with oil; place on preheated cooking surface. Cook on first side until bottoms are dark golden-brown (about 2 min.); flip and repeat (sandwiches do not need to be flipped in a panini press).
- If needed, reduce heat slightly and continue cooking until ham is hot and cheese is melted (about 2 min. more), flipping occasionally if using a skillet or griddle.
- Open sandwiches; top evenly with arugula. Close and cut each sandwich in half on the diagonal; serve immediately.
