Ingredients
- precooked edamame pods (from the Produce Department)
- Kowalski's Extra Virgin Olive Oil, for coating the edamame
- freshly ground Kowalski's California Sea Salt, to taste
- toasted sesame seeds, to taste (optional)
Directions
- Preheat a cast iron skillet over high heat.
- While pan heats, add edamame pods to a mixing bowl; drizzle with oil and toss to lightly coat.
- Add pods to hot skillet; cook, shaking and stirring occasionally, until blistered and blackened on all sides and tender but not limp (3-5 min.).
- Transfer pods to a serving platter; season with salt and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Tasty Tips:
- If you want to cook outdoors, simply place your cast iron skillet or griddle pan directly on the grill.
- Although edamame pods are cooked whole, only the beans inside the pod are eaten. To enjoy them, pick up a pod with your fingers, place one end in your mouth and squeeze or gently pull the beans out with your teeth. (This teeth-scraping method is the best way to enjoy the seasoning on the pod’s exterior.) Discard the empty pods.
