Grilled Tofu Kabobs

BBQ-grilled tofu kabobs pick up smoky char and a crispy exterior while staying tender inside. They're finished with a sweet, tangy glaze that highlights their savory, plant-forward flavor. 

Ingredients

14 oz. (up to 16 oz.) firm tofu
1 cup Kowalski's BBQ Sauce, divided
4 (10-12") metal skewers
- garnishes, to taste (optional): freshly chopped cilantro, Kowalski's Pickled Red Onions and minced chives
- Corn Salad, for serving (optional)

Directions
  1. Wrap tofu in paper towels or a clean tea towel; place a heavy object (such as a cast iron skillet) on top for 30-60 min.
  2. Preheat grill to medium-high heat; clean grill grates. 
  3. Cut tofu into 1" cubes; toss cubes in ½ cup of sauce until well coated. 
  4. Thread tofu cubes onto skewers; reserve remaining sauce for serving.
  5. Grill tofu on all sides, lid down, until charred and crispy on all sides, rotating every 5 min.
  6. Remove tofu from skewers; toss with additional sauce to taste or serve with remaining sauce for dipping. Garnish as desired.

Tasty Tips:

  • If the kabobs don't release easily from the grill grates, they're not ready to turn. 
  • Don't skip pressing the tofu in step 1. It helps release excess liquid that will prevent the tofu from developing a crispy exterior.
