Grilled Bananas

Grilled bananas are warm, creamy and custardy inside, making them a cozy, indulgent summertime dessert.

Ingredients

4 bananas (firm but not green), peel on, halved lengthwise
- cooking spray or canola oil, for brushing the bananas
4 tsp. sugar
- caramel sauce (such as Kowalski's Classic Caramel Sauce), for serving
- finely chopped nuts, for serving

Directions
  1. Preheat grill to medium heat; clean grill grates.
  2. Mist or lightly brush cut sides of bananas with oil.
  3. Sprinkle cut sides of bananas evenly with sugar; let stand for 2-3 min.
  4. Grill bananas cut-side down until dark grill marks form and fruit releases easily from grill grates (3-4 min.).
  5. Flip bananas; cook until skin starts to pull away from the fruit (5-6 min., depending on ripeness).
  6. Remove peels; place bananas on a serving plate(s). Drizzle with caramel; sprinkle with nuts. Serve immediately.

Tasty Tip:

  • Warm bananas are delicious with ice cream or whipped cream. Also try them in place of (or in addition to) toasted marshmallows in traditional s'mores.
